Step 2: Get consistent with your NAP
NAP stands for Name, Address, Phone number. Google cross-references your business information across the web — your website, directories, social media profiles. If your details are inconsistent (different spelling of your business name, old address, missing phone number), it undermines Google's confidence in your business and hurts your rankings.
Audit every place your business appears online and make sure your NAP is identical everywhere. This is tedious but important.
Step 3: Get reviews — and respond to them
Reviews are one of the most powerful local SEO signals. Businesses with more reviews, and higher average ratings, consistently outrank those without.
The most effective way to get reviews is simply to ask. After a positive interaction with a client, send them a direct link to your Google review page and ask them to share their experience. Most people are happy to help if you make it easy.
